Taking Care Of Your Dental Emergency From Home

The wait can be stressful and painful. Here are some tips to help you maintain until you can be seen.

Fractured Tooth

Clean your tooth by rinsing with warm water. You may also apply a cold compress (no longer than 20 minutes) to help with inflammation.

Knocked-Out Tooth

Losing your tooth can be a horrifying experience. Breathe, try to relax, and call Polaris Dentistry immediately so we can see you the same day. In the meantime, keep your tooth moist and clean, and don’t let the roots dry out. Rinse any dirt away and handle the tooth ONLY by the crown. If you can, store the tooth in your mouth or your saliva in a cup.

IMPORTANT: Getting treatment as quickly as possible after an injury increases the chances of saving your tooth.

Lost Dental Filling Or Crown

If you have lost a filling or crown, or if your crown is dislodged, we will see you as soon as possible to restore the dental crown or filling. Call our office right away, and we’ll work with you to ensure you get care in a timely manner.

Excruciating Tooth Pain

When should you schedule a visit for the toothache? When you first begin experiencing tooth pain. Being proactive can save you a tremendous amount of pain.

If your toothache becomes unbearable, call us immediately. If you can take pain medication safely, according to your physician, you may use ibuprofen or acetaminophen to get some relief. A cold compress may also help alleviate your pain. Remember, only leave it on for 20 minutes.
